BIKE AND HIKE O'AHU
$90 Per Person
First on the list is to get outside the bustle of the city and take the
provided shuttle to a tropical rainforest past the famous Punchbowl
Crater. Once at the top of Pu'u 'Ohia, you will gather strength and meet
your veteran bike and nature guides while enjoying a delicious
Continental-style breakfast of Hawaiian coffee, fruit, juice and
muffins.
Next on the list is to be outfitted with a Trek mountain bike and Bell
helmet. You will receive the safety instructions and get a feel for your
equipment before descending the 5-mile paved jungle road. This is a slow
descent on this private land and you will be directed to stop along the
way at the Manoa Overlook to take in the setting. Time for photos and a
little narrative by your guide before you head back on the road, one
that has very little traffic to disturb you.
Once you reach the bottom, bikes are loaded onto the van and you will
take a ride to a private 75-acre property in the Manoa Valley.
Reinforcements of trail snacks and a waterbottle will be passed out.
Knee-high rubber boots, guava walking sticks and rain jackets are
available if the weather commands their use.
The hike then begins, a lovely 2-mile route along a jungle stream with
mountain pools along side as you hike to a 200-foot waterfall. You will
hike back over a scenic ridge where you can view the lush tropical
flowers and trees that often go unseen. A shuttle ride back to Waikiki
ends your tour
