SNORKEL AND WHALE WATCH ADVENTURE
AFTERNOON TRIP
$74 Per Person
The afternoon varies just a little from the morning trip. The main
difference is that there is only one snorkel stop.
The custom-designed inflatable boats are adventure crafts complete with
biminis covering a portion of the boats. They are sized purposely to
keep the tours small and more personal and also to allow the visitor top
quality viewing.
As you travel along the historic Kona coast enroute to Kealakekua Bay,
your guide will share his knowledge of historical sites as well as
exploring sea caves and lava tubes up close! Many birds make their homes
in the pukas (small caves) on the pali (cliff) along the coastline and
may be seen nesting.
You will snorkel this premier Marine Sanctuary at Captain Cook's
Monument in Kealakekua Bay viewing many species of reef fish, eels,
turtles and corals. This is perhaps Hawaii's finest snorkel site. The
name "Kealakekua" means "Pathway to God" and the Mana (spiritual power
or energy) can be felt here by all. It is truly a wonder of nature and
by far the most beautiful coral reef in the state. The large bay is so
situated so as to ensure calm (lake-like) waters year round.
The bay is also a historical area, having been the dramatic backdrop for
the great explorer, Capt. James Cook, as his place of discovery of the
Big Island and a short time later, on February 14, 1779, met his fate on
this shore.
The adventure continues as we head out to find the dolphins and whales.
You will learn about whales, dolphins and other ocean wildlife while
observing them in their natural habitat.
