KAHAKULOA VALLEY TOUR

This tour is an incredible way to experience old Hawaii. Nakalele Point is the northern-most point on Maui and is the home of Hawaii’s first lighthouse. It is also the location of West Maui's youngest lava flow at 1 million years. It boasts incredible lava formations, blowholes and turtle watching. Our tour overlooks prehistoric ravines, rugged coastlines and poetic photo opportunities. Then, after coffee, muffins and fresh fruit, we head down the road to Kahakuloa valley.

Kahakuloa is a very special place not only for us but also for the people who live and work in the valley. It has been inhabited and farmed for roughly 1,500 years. The Ahupu'a (farming system) is still intact and in operation. This is an incredible experience. Many local residents on Maui haven't even had the opportunity to see it.

Once we arrive in the valley, we go "off-road" (onto private property) and drive a short way to where the road ends at a suspension bridge leading to the ancient pathway. Our guides share tales about the valley’s storied past and possibilities for the future.

We'll also stop at a remote Hawaiian art gallery featuring only Hawaiian artists working in Hawaii.
